Can I bring a hair dryer and curling iron in a carry on bag on Southwest Airlines flight?

I am flying Southwest Airlines next weekend and can't find any information about hair dryers or curling irons on their website. Does anyone know if these are allowed? I'm not checking any bags.

Yes, you can carry both items on any airline in the US and on most every foreign airline. In fact, they have never been banned, even since 9/11. As someone who will not travel anywhere without her dryer and flat iron, I will warn you that these sorts of products oftentimes do not show up clearly on the X-ray machine screens. Consequently, they will often be flagged for a security check (just to make sure that dryer isn't a large gun or the curling iron a metal night-stick).

You can avoid this possible disruption to your security experience by putting the items on top of everything else within your bag (so that, when the bag is flat on the belt, they are closest to the X-ray camera above, blocked only by the suitcase's fabric, and therefore most visible).

Have fun on your trip!
