so just wondering what sort of voltage convertor to use for ireland

Voltage convertor for japanese hair dryer?

If Ireland uses 220VAC power, you would need a 220-to-100-volt converter, which is not a commonly available item. Moreover, hair dryers use a lot of electricity (1200W/600W, as you state), so they would require large, heavy, and expensive voltage converters to handle those power levels. If you could find a 220-to-100-volt converter with a rating of at least 1200W (preferably 1800 to 2000W to provide some safety margin) and were willing to pay its price, you could buy it. However, it's usually less expensive and less bulky to simply buy high-power appliances, such as hair dryers, designed to operate on the voltage you will be using to power them.
