Is it safe to use a hair dryer during a thunderstorm?

I have heard that it isn't safe to take a shower, talk on a land line phone, or use a hair dryer during a thunderstorm. I want to know if other people have ever heard this??

I don't know personally, but to be safe I wouldn't do anything electric during a thunderstorm. I'd wait until it subsided so I could do it. I don't think it would really hurt you if it was a little bit of thunder and lightning, but if it was heavy thunder and lightning, it would be extremely dangerous.

The shower, I usually do. But I make it quick. Nothing's happened to me in the shower while a storm has happened.

i think its safe. here in minnesota it has been thunderstorm and rain like crazy! haha so much rain I got my hair washed by being outside.. I have heard of its not being safe but it could cause the power to go out. but I heard computers on is not safe.

i've heard of that, but i still go on the computer, use phones, etc. during thunderstorms and nothing has ever happened to me and i've never heard of it happening to anyone else so it's not that bad...if it's a really big thunderstorm then yeah. =)
